Pedagogical Experiences
A pioneering school in pedagogical innovation
For over 20 years, EM Normandie has been a forerunner in SmartEducation. The School is constantly investing in the digitalisation of its teaching methods and exploring new methodologies in terms of engaging teaching, with the aim of offering you an ever richer and more formative learning experience.
It strives to offer you an immersive digital pedagogy based on practical experience, to immerse you in your learning.
By joining one of EM Normandie’s programmes, you will benefit from the expertise of a Grande École and a faculty committed to educational innovation.
What are the benefits of engaging pedagogy?
This learner-centred form of teaching redesigns traditional teaching models and gives meaning to your learning. You go from being a spectator to a “spect-actor” of your learning. Your teacher provides you with the main concepts, leads the reflections and accompanies you the rest of the time during the practical phases by coaching you and structuring the conditions favourable to the development of your skills.
By actively participating in the classes, you improve your learning performance, integrate the concepts more quickly by putting them into practice immediately and learning to reuse them. By being placed in real-life situations, your certainties are challenged and you are pushed to think and act. You will be led to make your own decisions: whether the directions taken are good or not, these situations will be conducive to the acquisition of your know-how.
By using the digital tools at your disposal (simulations, shared online courses, social networks, remote teamwork, etc.) and by interacting with the members of your team, you adopt an active posture of listening, sharing and empathy throughout your course.
Build on what you have learned and experiment on your own. Develop your own skills and become the sole author of your learning.
Each teacher defines his or her own teaching practice, according to his or her skills in digital tools, his or her teaching field and personality. You will thus benefit from a wide variety of approaches that will make your course richer.
The teaching philosophy
The teaching philosophy of EM Normandie summarised by V.G Venkatesh who shares his vision of pedagogy:
Firstly, I convey the concepts by gradually introducing my arguments with concrete examples and by focusing on recent topics. The participants are invited to ask questions to clarify certain concepts, which makes them actors in their learning.
I then link this learning to real-life situations through the use of interventions by professionals, case studies and simulations. I also encourage students to analyse managerial situations and express their opinions on various aspects of the company and its environment through individual reflection exercises, group activities and scenario-based questions.
Evolve in a learning ecosystem based on practice, learning by example and reflection on concrete topics. Connect to the reality of the professional world by tackling topical issues and benefiting from the expertise of speakers who are experts in their field.
During the classes, exchange views with other students and take part in quizzes to validate your knowledge. Conduct research on current affairs and analyse the content you find by linking it to the concepts you learn in class. Share your research with your teacher and peers through online forums and social networking platforms.
Develop your “soft skills” by doing more group projects and presentations to a group or a jury. Learn to be comfortable with public speaking
